| Peoria
Peoria, named for the four families from Peoria,
Illinois who set down roots here in 1886, spans over
162 square miles and has more than 120,000 residents.
It is Arizona's fourth largest city in terms of incorporated
area and ninth largest in terms of population. It
has one of the best school districts in the state,
affordable housing and is only twenty four miles northwest
of Phoenix. Peoria is home to Lake Pleasant, a 24,000
acre "water wonderland" surrounded by desert
flora and fauna as well as hiking trails, campgrounds,
a lake overlook and boat ramps.

School districts in Peoria include Peoria Unified
School District and Deer Valley School District, two
of the finest in the state. Students consistently
score above the national average on standardized tests
and the dropout rate is one of the state's lowest.
The Peoria Sports Complex, built in 1994, is the
first Major League Baseball spring training and player
development facility in the country to be shared by
two teams. The Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres
train here each spring. Current development in the
area surrounding the Complex includes 5 new hotels,
a variety of restaurants, an office complex, two sheet
ice rinks and an 18 screen movie theater complex.
The Arrowhead Towne Center and North Valley Power
Center contain a variety of department stores, restaurants
and specialty shops. Medical services and health care
facilities here are among the most comprehensive in
the Valley.
