| Glendale
Glendale is Arizona's fourth largest city and the
100th largest in the U.S. It is the financial and
business hub of the Northwest Valley. Located nine
miles west of downtown Phoenix, it is a friendly fifty
seven square mile city with a "small town"
feel. It offers scenic mountain views, desert vistas,
wide-open spaces, golf courses and lakes, as well
as beautiful master planned communities, luxury executive
homes, older quiet tree-lined neighborhoods and affordable
starter houses. Glendale's population of 230,000 is
made up in the majority of young college educated
families with children, earning an average of over
$53,000 annually. Honeywell Avionics, Honeywell Space
Satellite Systems, Parker Hannifin, Conair, Bechtel
and Corning-Gilbert are located here.

Glendale has earned a reputation as Arizona's Antique
Capital, with the largest concentration of antique
stores in a walk able area. It was rated one of the
“Top Ten Antique Destinations in the Country”
by USA Today. Old Towne Glendale and the historic
Catlin Court Shops District are home to more than
ninety antique stores, specialty shops and eateries,
all situated around historic Murphy Park, the town
square. Gas lit street lamps, brick walkways, tree-lined
streets and quaint specialty shops add to its turn-of-the-century
charm.
Recreational opportunities are plentiful, with fifty
six parks, downtown shopping at The Market at Murphy
Park every weekend from October to May, and a major
event almost every month. The new NHL's Phoenix Coyotes
arena will open in the 2003-2004 season and the new
multipurpose stadium, future home to the Arizona Cardinals
and the Fiesta Bowl will break ground this year in
2003.
Glendale has all the amenities and services one would
expect from a city with such a lofty reputation. Arrowhead
Towne Center, a 1.3 million square foot mall, contains
more than 700 businesses and provides entertainment,
shopping and dining. The new Civic Center was completed
in November, 1999. Luke Air Force Base, the largest
jet fighter training base in the world, is located
in west Glendale and employs more than 7,000 residents.
Sky Harbor International Airport is only 13 miles
away. Both Arrowhead Community Hospital and Medical
Center and Thunderbird Samaritan Medical Center serve
the area.
All seven of Glendale’s school districts feature
standardized test scores consistently higher than
the national average and Midwestern University College
of Osteopathic Medicine, ASU West, Thunderbird American
Graduate School of International Management, and Glendale
Community College are located here.
